Calgary Fall Events

From a medieval faire to historic ghost tours, home remodeling tips to the Train of Terror, there’s plenty to look forward to coming up this fall in Calgary.

Ghost Tours

  • When: Now through October 14

It’s time to celebrate another spooky season at Heritage Park Historical Village. The site’s offering Ghost Tours for guests 16 and older on Thursday evenings through mid-October. The 90-minute walking tour leads visitors through the dark streets of Canada’s largest living history museum. 

Calgary Medieval Faire & Artisan Market

The annual Calgary Medieval Faire & Artisan Market kicks off in late August. Taking place at the Wild Wild West Event Centre, this is the third year for the event. It’s a weekend of authentic medieval costumes, food, performances and magic. 

ZooLaLa

  • When: September 11
  • Where: Calgary Zoo
  • Website

Things are about to get wild at the Calgary Zoo. The first ever ZooLaLa is planned for mid-September. The adults-only event is a night out at the zoo with food, drinks, live entertainment and a behind-the-scenes look at what’s going on at the zoo. The night also marks the conclusion of the Zoonique online auction, which benefits wildlife.

Harvest Lights/Pumpkin Days

  • When: September 17 (25)-October 31
  • Where: Calgary Farmyard

Harvest Lights begins in mid-September at the Calgary Farmyard. You can take part in a majority of the farmyard’s activities, plus try and navigate the corn maze after dark with just a flashlight.

Pumpkin Days kicks off at the farmyard about a week later. Admission tickets are available on-line or at the gate for both events.

Calgary International Film Festival

The Calgary International Film Festival is slated to begin in late September. The 22nd annual festival is the largest of its kind in Alberta. The event showcases feature films and short films, with both in-house cinema and streaming options.

Calgary Fall Home Show

  • When: September 30- October 3
  • Where: BMO Centre, Stampede Park

If you’re looking for a little home inspiration, you’ll likely find it at the Calgary Fall Home Show. The event kicks off at the end of September. You can purchase tickets in advance online or at the box office. The home show features everything you need for your next home project, with hundreds of booths and exhibitors on hand.

Adults Only Night/Pumpkin Party

  • When: October 2
  • Where: Cobb’s Adventure Park

Cobb’s Adventure Park is hosting an Adults Only Night/Pumpkin Party in early October. Just for the grownups, this party includes pumpkin carving, appetizers and alcoholic drinks. The night also includes the chance to visit with baby kangaroos. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

Train of Terror

Hit the rails on the Train of Terror beginning October 8. The spooky Aspen Crossing Railway tour puts you onboard a haunted railway car. Designed for those 18 and older, the train ride is an intense, two hour experience. Tickets are available online. 

Swan Lake

Join the dancers of Alberta Ballet for this fall’s performance of Swan Lake. The classic ballet takes the stage in Calgary in late October. Tickets are already on sale for the highly anticipated performance.
