The Canadian Sport Heroes Collection exhibit allows visitors to relive some of the most glorious moments in Canadian sports history. The exhibit opened on June 13 and will be available until September 3. This exciting exhibit, by artist Gordon Milne in conjunction with Canada's Sports Hall of Fame, showcases an elite group of athletes who have changed the face of Canadian sports forever. The collection features world champions and Olympic medalists.
Gordon Milne was commissioned by the Canadian Sport Institute Calgary to paint this stunning series of large-scale acrylic portraits of Canada's sports heroes. The collection features portraits that capture the personality of the athletes through color. Gordon began each piece by studying the individual athlete's personalty and sketching them before adding color in the studio. The Canadian Sport Heroes Collection is made possible through generous support of the Canadian Sport Institute Calgary, Alberta Culture, ARC Energy Trust and BMO Financial.
This exhibit offers the chance for the entire family to learn about Canada's sports heroes and Canada's history as a whole. The collection is currently on loan to Canada's Sports Hall of Fame which has worked in conjunction with the Okotoks Art Gallery to make this exhibition possible.
