Calgary Single-Family Home Sales Jump 8 Per Cent in June

Posted by John Mayberry on Saturday, July 15th, 2017 at 10:14am.

New data from the Calgary Real Estate Board revealed single-family home sales jumped 8% in June compared to the same time last year, and while any increase in sales activity is welcomed, new listings added to the market also surged by 24% last month as well, which isn’t great news for home sellers heading into the upcoming fall season.

According to the same report, though, year-to-date inventory still remains roughly 9% below the first half of 2016, and with both year-to-date sales and home prices up slightly, market conditions are still relatively normal for what you'd expect during a gradual, and hopefully on-going recovery.

As of the end of  last month, the median price for detached single-family homes jumped by 5.2%, reaching $514,800. Overall sales in Calgary, which includes condos and attached residences, also climbed by roughly 5.5% to 2,140 sales.
