Residential development around South East Calgary has been widespread since the early to mid-1990s, and today, it’s home to well over 150,000 residents. As alluded to above, single-family homes occupy the largest segment of the SE Calgary real estate market, but that’s not to say townhomes, condos, and a number of desirable duplex units are available to those considering the area as well.

In addition, the closer you get to downtown Calgary, you’ll also find a number of high-rise condo developments as well, most notably the luxury condos at Riverfront Pointe (325 3 Street SE). South East Calgary real estate for sale is definitely a bit more pricey than areas like North East Calgary, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find a home or condo in the area with a reasonable price tag. Entry level single-family homes tend to start somewhere near $500,000, while some o South East Calgary’s most expensive homes can exceed $2 million.

More About the New South West Calgary Boundaries

Real Estate in the South East Calgary DistrictAlthough South East Calgary used to stretch all the way over to MacLeod Trail, it’s new boundary line according to the Calgary Real Estate Board stops at Deerfoot Trail, with just a few exceptions that include Cranston, MacKenzie Lake, and Douglasdale/Glen, which of course are all neighborhoods that lie just west of the highway.

Offering more of a rural feel than many other communities in town, homes for sale in South East Calgary are perfect for anybody wanting lots of open space and an atmosphere that seems worlds away from all the hustle and bustle of the city. But given Deerfoot Trail mostly acts as the western boundary of Calgary’s South East District, easy and quick access to downtown Calgary also makes this part of the city a pretty convenient place to call home as well. As for the types of homes and real estate you'll find in South East Calgary, higher-end newer construction homes tend to catch the eye of most home buyers considering the area, with some reaching and even exceeding $2 million. Townhomes are also popular all throughout the South East Calgary district and are a much more affordable alternative to a full-size detached single-family home. Townhomes in South East Calgary tend to start in the low to mid $300s and go up from there based on living space and features.
